What it is
OONYU (온유) is a community where anyone can share worries and everyday moments and find empathy, comfort and hope. When you post a story, an AI leaves a warm first reply, and then other people add comments and love. It is built on the Christian values of love, gentleness, forgiveness, hope and consideration, without pushing religion on anyone, and it says so openly on its About page.
The problem
On most social networks people feel they must show only a positive side, and a serious worry often gets insults or no reply at all. AI chatbots answer right away but cannot connect you to real people.
OONYU is designed so that an AI's first reply fills the quiet moment right after posting, and real people's support takes over from there.
Who it is for
- Adults who need a place to open up: people who want to share about relationships, work, family or their feelings, even anonymously
- People who want to say something kind: readers who want to answer someone's story with empathy and encouragement
- People who share the values: those who want to talk about love, forgiveness and hope in a place that does not force beliefs
Core flow
- Read: read public stories without logging in, and share the ones you like with a link.
- Write: log in and post a story, anonymously or only for yourself, and choose the kind of response you would like.
- First reply: an AI leaves a short, caring comment. Anything written by AI is labeled.
- Support from people: others send comments and love, and you can follow them to stay in touch.
- Stay connected: people who follow each other can talk by message.
Features
- A feed organized by hashtags: mark the topic with a hashtag, and get told when new stories arrive.
- AI first reply: a short comment that does not judge or lecture. For stories that seem to involve danger, it points to where to get help instead of writing its own reply.
- Korean and English: stories written in another language are shown in yours, with the original one tap away.
- Follow and message: follow people, and exchange messages only with people you follow each other.
- Saved and notifications: gather saved stories and the love you sent, and get told when comments and love arrive.
- Safeguards: swearing and ads are screened first and held for review, and reporting and blocking let people look after their own space.
Product decisions
- The AI is only a first responder: it says it is neither a counselor nor a religious leader and does not replace professional help. What matters is that people's support follows.
- Faith shapes the tone and stays out of sight: AI replies never quote scripture or use religious terms. The operating philosophy is stated openly instead.
- Hard stories are met, not blocked: a post about a painful moment is not hidden, and a human-written note on where to get help is added.
- Messages only between people who follow each other: this reduces unwanted messages and harassment.
- Pain is not a popularity contest: stories that have received little support so far get their own tab.
Revenue model
Reading, writing and support are free. At this stage the goal is to see whether people gather and support each other, so there is no paid product. Revenue comes from one ad slot on the confirmation screen shown when someone leaves through an external link, connected to the family-wide ad sales at ads.mrlatte.net. Sensitive stories are never used for ad targeting.
Next hypotheses
- Look at the share of stories that receive support from people within 24 hours.
- Check whether people who got an AI first reply come back within 7 days.
- See whether more people who received support go on to support someone else's story.
