Mr. Latte Story

One Finger Orchestra Privacy Policy

This English page is a machine translation of the Korean original, so some wording may read a little off.

One Finger Orchestra (Android package net.mrlatte.onefingerorchestra) is a play-along music app where you follow lit keys with one finger while an orchestra plays the rest of the song, operated by Mr. Latte. This policy applies to the app. Contact us at hello@mrlatte.net.

Saved on your device

Your best score and stars for each song, part, number of keys and mode, the settings you last chose for each song, your timing adjustment, the songs you have already seen (so new ones can be marked), and your notification and usage statistics choices are stored on your device. The songs, sounds and themes you download are stored on your device too, and older files are deleted automatically when a newer version is downloaded. These records are not sent to a server. You can use the app without creating an account or signing in. Clearing the app's storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app deletes its local records and downloads.

Downloads

Songs, sounds and themes download when they are first needed. When the app starts, and again when you come back to it, it fetches the song list. It downloads a song's files when you pick that song, and a sound or theme the first time a song uses it. It also fetches a file of app settings, such as timing windows. The files are public files that Mr. Latte hosts on Google Firebase Storage, and the app does not send an account or device identifier with these downloads. As with any internet request, Google processes connection information such as your IP address to deliver the files. Downloaded songs play without an internet connection.

Notifications

After you finish your first song, the app asks whether you want notifications. If you allow them, the app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to tell you when a new song comes out or when there is app news. No notification identifier exists before you allow notifications. Once you do, the app creates a notification identifier for your device and registers it for new song alerts and app news; no name or contact details are sent. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app settings or in Android notification settings.

Usage statistics

Usage statistics stay off until you turn them on. The app asks on first launch, and you can change your choice at any time with Share usage statistics in Settings. When they are on, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to send records of the songs you start and finish (song, part, sound, number of keys, mode, stars, accuracy and whether you finished), the songs you open from a new song notice or notification, the screens you use, how long you use the app, the device model, Android and app versions, your approximate country estimated from the IP address and an identifier set for each installation. Your name, contact details and advertising ID are not sent. The app shows no ads.

The statistics are used only to see which songs and settings are hard and which features are used, and Google keeps them for up to 14 months. See Firebase privacy information for how Firebase handles data.

MIDI keyboards

You can connect a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard. The keys you press are used only on your device to play the song and are not sent anywhere. For a USB keyboard, Android asks you to allow the connection. For a Bluetooth keyboard, the app asks for the Nearby devices permission (Android 12 and later) only when you choose to connect one, and uses it only to find and connect the keyboard.

App updates

When installed from Google Play, the app uses Google Play's in-app update feature to check for a newer version. To check, the Play Store sends the app version and device information to Google. Google Play handles this check and the update download; the app does not collect any information during this process.

Permissions

The app uses internet access to download songs, notifications only if you allow them, Nearby devices only when you connect a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard, and vibration for key feedback. It does not request microphone, camera, location, photo or contacts access.

Sounds and songs

The grand piano sound uses the Salamander Grand Piano samples by Alexander Holm, licensed under CC BY 3.0. Other instrument sounds are based on the MuseScore General SoundFont (MIT License). The songs are public-domain compositions arranged for the app, and the source and license of each arrangement are listed in the app's credits.

Support and your rights

If you email us, we use your reply address and the information you provide to answer and resolve your request. Support records are kept for as long as needed to handle the request. Contact hello@mrlatte.net to request access, correction or deletion, or to ask about data processing. You can delete local records and downloads through Android's app storage controls.

Changes to this policy will appear on this page. Material changes to how information is handled will also be explained in the app.
