What it is
EXTRA DAMAGE is a one-finger Android game set on the worst movie lot in town. Rex Flex has not had a hit in twenty years, so he and a crew of volunteers set out to remake famous movie scenes with cardboard, a borrowed fan and a lot of duct tape. Your job is to get the shot. Every scene is a quick challenge of 10 to 30 seconds, and if you pull it off like the storyboard, the director yells PRINT IT! The game is in English.
Problem it solves
Short arcade games usually repeat one trick until it gets old. Here every scene brings its own trick: draw a shape on the cue, hang over a laser floor, outrun a rolling boulder, dance on the beat, frame a shot like a camera operator. Each one is simple enough to understand in a few seconds, and you are never asked to learn a control scheme twice.
Core loop
- Pick a movie from the shooting schedule. Each movie has three scenes, each one a spoof of a famous scene from film history. All names, characters and titles are made up.
- Before your first take of a new scene, a stunt double shows the moves with a glove while the scene plays out. After that the screen is yours, with no hints in the way.
- Every move is judged PERFECT, GREAT or GOOD. Chain them into combos and chase a rank from C up to SS.
- Blow a take and the slate is back up in a second: TAKE 2, TAKE 3, TAKE 14.
- Wrap a movie, watch the trailer built from your best takes, then walk the red carpet at the premiere.
Main features
- Three stars on every scene, each for something different: get the OK, match the storyboard and nail the stylish bonus. New stars pay box office money, which opens the next movie.
- Many ways to play: tap, hold, flick, trace, balance, swing, dance on the beat and frame the shot. One finger, sometimes two thumbs, never the same trick twice.
- Premieres with a poster made from your best still, a line from the critics and a trailer cut from your best takes.
- The Golden Clapper Awards: earn enough stars and your movie is nominated for gold, silver or bronze. The acceptance speech is always too long.
- A crew of volunteers that plays every role nobody else will take: outlaws, kung fu masters, dinosaurs and one very fast chicken.
Pricing
Free to play, with no purchases and no banner ads. Everything in the game can be earned without watching an ad. There are two optional rewarded ads: a stunt double who finishes a scene after three failed takes, and a second helping of box office money at a premiere. A full-screen ad can appear when you leave a premiere, after every third premiere. No ad ever appears while a scene is being filmed.
