Mr. Latte Story

Accompy Privacy Policy

This English page is a machine translation of the Korean original, so some wording may read a little off.

Accompy (Android package net.mrlatte.accompy) is a practice app where you play your part from the score while an orchestra plays the rest, then record yourself and listen back. It is operated by Mr. Latte. This policy applies to the app. Contact us at hello@mrlatte.net.

Delete your account

You can delete your account and everything it keeps at any time.

  • In the app: open Settings, tap Delete account, then Delete everything. Your account, your recordings and your practice records are deleted from our storage and from the device right away. Google may ask you to sign in again first.
  • Without the app: email hello@mrlatte.net from the email address of the Google account you use with Accompy and ask us to delete your Accompy account. We delete the account, recordings and practice records within 30 days and reply when it is done.

Signing out does not delete anything. Usage statistics, if you turned them on, are not linked to your account and are kept by Google as described below.

Your account

Accompy requires you to sign in with Google. Sign-in goes through Firebase Authentication (Google), which gives us your Google account's name, email address and a user identifier. We use them only to sign you in, to keep your recordings and practice with your account and to answer you if you contact us. Accompy never sees your Google password.

Saved with your account

When you are signed in, these are saved to Google Firebase Storage in a space that only your account can read or write, so they come back when you sign in on another phone or tablet:

  • Recordings you make while playing (audio files), with the piece, instrument, tempo and timing details of each.
  • Practice records for each piece: the instrument and part, view, tempo, section, count-in, metronome and key settings, the bar where you stopped, your practice time and any note you write.
  • Your instrument choice.

Copies of the same records are kept on the device. We do not look at your recordings or notes and do not use them for anything other than giving them back to you.

Saved only on your device

Scores you import (MusicXML files) stay on your device and are not uploaded. Files you create to share, such as a recording mixed with the orchestra, are temporary files on the device. Your choices for the opening music, usage statistics and the guide are kept on the device.

Microphone and sharing

Accompy asks for microphone access the first time you record. It listens only while a recording is running, and the recording is saved as described above. When you share a recording, the app creates the file and Android's share sheet sends it to the app you choose; we do not receive it.

Downloads

The first pieces come with the app. When the app starts, it fetches the list of pieces and downloads new or updated ones. These are public files that Mr. Latte hosts on Google Firebase Storage, and the app does not send your account or a device identifier with these downloads. As with any internet request, Google processes connection information such as your IP address to deliver the files. Downloaded pieces play without an internet connection.

Usage statistics

Usage statistics stay off until you turn them on. The app asks once on the home screen, and you can change your choice at any time with Share usage statistics in Settings. When they are on, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to send records of the pieces you open and play (piece, instrument, tempo, key, view and whether you used a section or Listen), recordings saved and their length, listening back, sharing (with or without the orchestra), score imports (number of parts) and signing in, along with the screens you use, how long you use the app, the device model, Android and app versions, your approximate country estimated from the IP address and an identifier set for each installation. Your name, email address, recordings, notes and advertising ID are not sent. The app shows no ads.

The statistics are used only to see which pieces and features are used and where practice gets hard, and Google keeps them for up to 14 months. Turning statistics off also clears the analytics data stored on the device. See Firebase privacy information for how Firebase handles data.

App updates

When installed from Google Play, the app uses Google Play's in-app update feature to check for a newer version. To check, the Play Store sends the app version and device information to Google. Google Play handles this check and the update download; the app does not collect any information during this process.

Permissions

The app uses internet access to sign in, to keep your recordings and practice with your account, to download pieces and, if you turn them on, to send usage statistics. It uses the microphone only while you record. It does not request camera, location, photo or contacts access.

Sounds, pieces and scores

Instrument sounds use the GeneralUser GS SoundFont by S. Christian Collins, and scores are drawn with Verovio. The pieces are public-domain compositions arranged for the app, and the source and license of each are listed in the app's licenses.

Support and your rights

If you email us, we use your reply address and the information you provide to answer and resolve your request. Support records are kept for as long as needed to handle the request. Contact hello@mrlatte.net to request access to, correction or deletion of your information, or to ask about data processing.

Changes to this policy will appear on this page. Material changes to how information is handled will also be explained in the app.
